Hacking " A Culture Dead " Why Hacking Is A Thing Of The Past

The word hacking in general English terms means exploiting a criterion related to a system or a system itself. This definition improves the downplay what it means to be an " ethical hacker " a individual who shares his insight to the sole proprietor on exploiting their system or criterion. Hacking didn’t always have such negative connotations. In the 1960s, engineering students used the term to indicate various methods of optimizing machines and systems to increase their efficiency. In fact, early hacking was more in line with ethical hacking. These “black hat hackers” became digital trespassers and thieves. They used their hacking skills to access private computers and destroy records, access financial accounts, steal data, and blackmail businesses into paying massive sums of money. White hat hackers emerged to combat the nefarious intentions of black hat hackers. These ethical hackers act as security specialists, exploring the system to identify security holes and areas that are vulnerable to hacking. Today, there are certification programs for ethical hacking. It has become a very big business in the computer world such as information technology. Most elite hackers are millennials who originated from the days of IRC 4chan/anonymous days of the late 2000s and early 2010s which led to emergence and development of a new spark cyber culture. Statistics shows from a released document from the federal bureau investigations most of those individuals from those days grew up to be very successful and have jobs in the tech industry. Basically, stating the individuals who were the main perpetrator exploiting systems now provide cyber defense " information technology " for major and private business entities. The actual emergence of modern cybersecurity kind of ensured that only state actors or people with a profit motive would invest the effort and invoke the risk. With the goverment being backed by billions of taxpayers' dollars which funds budgets to have a lead and having the upmost fluent cyber defense and offense, overall hacking went mainstream, and like everything mainstream, it found itself tainted at the hands of capitalism. The entire scene became commodified and much of the hacking scene is about attending corporate sponsored conferences and collecting badges, stickers and swag. The majority went to discord, a company where you pay for a monthly membership so you can get emojis while they parse your discussions and sell your data to the federal goverment.
